How It Works
Our simple repair process from start to finish
Our Repair Process
At Motherboard Repair Canada, we've streamlined our repair process to make it as convenient as possible for you. Whether you choose walk-in drop-off or mail-in service, here's what you can expect:
Request Job Assessment
Start a new repair with our contact form. Sending the form creates a new device repair request and starts the free job assessment that decides whether we can accept the job. If you cannot use the form, our voice agent accepts voicemail requests at 226-702-0555. We use SMS and voicemail for repair communication.
Device Evaluation
Once an accepted device arrives by walk-in drop-off or mail, our technicians confirm intake details and perform any approved diagnostic or repair work needed to identify repair options. You'll receive a ticket ID for your repair. The online tracker is offline for the foreseeable future, so contact us for status updates. We may restore the tracker in the future.
Approval and Pricing
Before billable repair work begins, we confirm the repair scope, parts, labor costs, and estimated completion time. We won't proceed until you approve the work. Most jobs are paid after completion. We may require a disclosed deposit for expensive or special-order parts or special jobs.
Repair Service
Our skilled technicians will perform the necessary repairs using high-quality parts and advanced tools. We specialize in component-level repairs, often fixing issues that other shops can't handle.
Quality Testing
After repairs are complete, we thoroughly test your device to ensure everything is working properly. We run diagnostic software, stress tests, and functionality checks to verify the repair quality.
Device Return
Once testing is complete, we'll notify you that your device is ready. Payment is normally due at this stage. Mail-in customers pay shipping to and from MRC, and return shipping must be paid before we dispatch the device.
Our Commitment to Transparency
We are committed to being as transparent as possible to make sure that you're never surprised by something you weren't expecting. We can't predict everything, but we have the ability to solve most modern circuit-related issues and we've seen a lot of repeat problems across all of our technicians' experience. If we're unsure about something, you will know before we take the plunge into the unknown together, and we are happy to do our best effort to ensure that you've given the fix a fair shot.
Limitations We're Transparent About
One of the things we can't see is behind proprietary secrets in some chips that are kept secret, but if this becomes a problem during your repair, we will let you know before we proceed.
Expedited Services
Priority Processing
For time-sensitive repairs, we offer expedited service with priority processing. Expedited services include a separate expedited fee that varies based on the type of service:
- Diagnostics and Repair Services: 50% expedited fee added to the base service price
- All Other Services: 100% expedited fee added to the base service price
The expedited fee is calculated on all hours and work performed for your service.
Turnaround Times
- Expedited Service: 1-2 days approximate turnaround depending on inventory levels, holidays, and other emergencies or acts of god
- Standard Service: 14 day maximum turnaround
- Retainer Service: 7 day maximum turnaround for all retainer subscribers
Note: Turnaround times are approximate and subject to parts availability, holidays, and unforeseen circumstances beyond our reasonable control. We work as fast as inventory allows and will communicate any delays promptly.
Retainer Benefits
All retainer options provide MRC-wide retainer benefits, including reduced turnaround times (7 days maximum vs. 14 days standard), preferred rates, and expedited timelines across all our services.
Our retainer services include:

Mail-In Instructions
1. Request Job Assessment
Start with our contact form. Sending it creates a new device repair request. If you cannot use the form, our voice agent accepts voicemail requests at 226-702-0555. We reply by SMS or voicemail and provide shipping instructions only if we accept the job.
2. Package Your Device
Carefully package your device to prevent damage during shipping:
- Use a sturdy box with sufficient padding (bubble wrap, foam, etc.)
- Remove any accessories not required for repair
- Include a note with your name, contact information, and description of the issue
- If possible, back up your data before sending your device
3. Ship Your Device
Ship your device to our repair center only after we provide instructions. Please request the mailing address during your job assessment process. We will direct you to mail to the appropriate facility.
Do not ship until you receive the shipping address and instructions from your support agent.
You are responsible for inbound shipping costs. We recommend using a shipping service that provides tracking and insurance.
